Bayberry Quilters October Evening Meeting
We look forward to meeting in person again! Our speaker for the October meeting will be Allison Wilbur, who will present her “Trip Around the World” lecture and trunk show.
Allison Wilbur is an award winning longarm quilter and quilt artist. Decades of living overseas in Japan, Russia, Tunisia, Kuwait, Oman and Switzerland, and travel to many other countries has brought global textiles, color combinations, and design elements into her quilts. Allison often pairs these elements with traditional American piecing to create collaborative work that celebrates the international language of fiber shared by women in so many cultures around the world.
Allison lectures on textiles from around the world, quilting techniques, and art quilting to regional quilt guilds. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, the New England Quilt Museum, in major national quilt festivals, art galleries and museums.
Together with her husband, Dick Wilbur, she manages a project, Quilt for Change, which uses challenge art quilt exhibits to inspire social change. The exhibits have been displayed at the United Nations in Switzerland and New York, have traveled with major quilt shows in the U.S. and at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA.
